Silurian & Devonian
Microfossils
The material in the collections on this page were all part of Robert Lundin's research material. Lundin
literally wrote the book on the Silurian and Devonian ostracods of Oklahoma. All the samples were
collected in the 1970's and early 1980's.
Silurian Of Gotland - £60/$90
This is a collection of 28 samples from the Silurian reefs of the Swedish island of Gotland.
These were all collected in the 1970's and 1980's by Robert Lundin, a professional
palaeontologist who worked with ostracods. All the samples have been processed and are rich
in microfossils, especially ostracods.

Each sample comes in a gel capsule with identification label that contains all the geological
information. You can download a map of Gotland showing many of the localities elsewhere on
our website.

Many of the different geological formations from Gotland are included in the collection, with
almost the entire column being sampled in some form.

It cannot be overstated the importance of this collection to anyone with an interest in Silurian
fossils.
Silurian of Tennessee and Oklahoma
£20/$30
This is a collection of 5 samples from the Silurian of Tennessee and Oklahoma. The samples
represent the Brownsport Formation and Henryhouse Formations. These were all collected in
the 1970's and 1980's by Robert Lundin, a professional palaeontologist who worked with
ostracods. All the samples have been processed with ostracods brachiopods, crinoidal
remains, bryozoans, and trilobite pieces being present. There are thousands of microfossils in
this collection.

Each sample is individually bagged and labelled. The code number on the label refers to the
exact site as referenced in the literature.
USNM Tennessee Devonian - £20/$35
These samples were collected by the United States National
Museum in October of 1946 and were later donated to a professional
ostracod researcher in Arizona. There are 4 samples in all, each
coming with a copy of the original label. These samples have not
been sorted since they were collected nearly 70 years ago in the
Ross and Rockhouse Formations (Devonian) of Tennessee. Material
from one of Carl Dunbar's original localities is included. The samples
themselves contain a typical suite of marine lifeforms.
Chitinoza Of Gotland - £12/$20
This collection is for 4 microfossil samples from the Silurian of Gotland that are rich in
chitinozoa. These are the first samples we have ever had that contain these enigmatic fossils
(generally considered to be egg cases of snails or other invertebrates). Each sample is
housed in a gel capsule and comes with full geological data. An ID card showing an SEM of a
chitinozoan is included. Each sample contains abundant specimens.
Silurian Henryhouse Collection - £20/$35
This is a collection of 5 samples from the Silurian of Oklahoma. The samples represent five
different localities and levels in the Henryhouse Formations. These were all collected in the 1970's
and 1980's by Robert Lundin, a professional palaeontologist who worked with ostracods. All the
samples have been processed with ostracods, brachiopods, crinoidal remains, bryozoans, etc.
being present. The samples are all process to 1mm and smaller and contain abundant
microfossils. Each vial measures ~1.5 inches tall.
For a larger collection of microfossil samples from Gotland please see our
Gotland Page II. This larger collection contains samples (~50) from every
locality we have available.
