The Texas Red Beds II
The fossils on this page all originate from the famous Permian Red Beds of Texas. The beds were collected by Cope,
Marsh and Romer, the principal early workers on Permian vertebrates. The fossils are often more worn than at other
Permian sites, due to the nature of their deposition, but they are still good representatives from a classic deposit. All are

Measures ~8 mm long. Good enamel.
Dimetrodon large vertebra - SOLD!
A very good quality complete vertebra. As with all Red Beds specimens the bone is a mixture of purples and grey with a
little encrustation. However, this specimen has been air abraded to help clean it up and it is essentially complete, missing
just some of the posterior processes. Vertebrae this size are uncommon and this specimen measures 30mm. Looks much
better in person as the mix of colours makes it look particularly gnarly in the photos, which it is not.

Ophiacodon
Ophiacodon large vertebra - £50/$80

A good/very good quality complete vertebral
centrum from this semi-aquaitc pelycosaur. Nice
bone preservation and of a large size, measuring
~1 inch/ 25 mm wide. One of the biggest
pelycosaur vertebrae we have had in a long time.

Pelycosaurs
Dimetrodon vertebra medium - £30/$50 each
A complete vertebra. Nice and clean, with a little compression from fossilisation. Good sized specimens measuring
~22 x 27 mm (0.75 x 1 inch).

Dimetrodon premax with tooth bases - SOLD!
This is a rare specimen. It is the premaxillary bone from a Dimetrodon skull.
Very nice bone preservation with clear root bases for the large caniniform
teeth. Measures ~36 x 33 mm (1.5 x 1.25 inches).
